FestivaLink.net presents Tim Eriksen & Shape Note Singers at Newport Folk Festival, RI 8/6/06

Shape Note singing made its first appearance at Newport Folk Festival in the early 1960s. After the movie "Cold Mountain" drew new attention to this unique singing style, Tim Eriksen began touring performances of the music. For Newport, he assembled 40 singers of shape note music from along the east coast for this special Sunday morning performance.
