YarmonyGrass
August 15-17, 2008
August 31 - September 1, 2007
Where do festivals come from? Mega-festivals can start with 50,000 of your closest friends in attendance, and a who's who of the year's touring headliners. Then there are grassroots festivals, the ones that set their unique tone from the very first year, and grow slowly as friends bring friends.
YarmonyGrass started just two years ago as an intimate camping festival inspired by the Colorado River. The late-summer beauty of the Rockies makes this festival very different and special, and so does the artist lineup. Call this the "Jamgrass Side Project Festival," where established jam artists come to pick and play with like-minded progressive western bluegrass players. Just two weeks after String Cheese Incident played its farewell show at Red Rocks, Bill Nershi, Keith Moseley, Kyle Hollingsworth, and Jason Hann hosted the very collaborative second annual YarmonyGrass Festival.
We've compiled examples of every performance, emphasizing the relaxed, mix-and-match nature of this event. Each evening ends with the YarmonyGrass Joint Jam; you can hear a campfire crackling in the background.
The 2007 YarmonyGrass Festival release was recorded by Kyle Porter, Paradise Audio Services, and post-produced by Steven Haver at Airshow Mastering, Boulder, CO
YarmonyGrass Festival is produced by Pure Productions. In 2008, the 3rd Annual YarmonyGrass Music Festival will be held August 15th - 17th at Copper Mountain Resort east of Vail. Folks will also be able to enjoy rafting, fishing and hiking during the day, and gather for music starting in late afternoons. The festival will feature Railroad Earth, The Emmitt Nershi Band, Honkytonk Homeslice Electric, Hot Buttered Rum, Cornmeal, and EOTO and Friends featuring Travis and Jason from The String Cheese Incident. A full lineup is available on the website.
