Taos Solar Music Festival
June 28 - June 30, 2008
June 29 - July 1, 2007
We're helping the Taos Solar Music Festival celebrate its landmark 10th anniversary. SolarFest was one of the first to tie music to sustainability and alternative energy.
The festival grounds are in Kit Carson Park, just blocks from Taos' historic plaza. From its small-town, in-town location, festival-goers can stroll to the galleries, shops, and restaurants of Taos and still hear plenty of music.
The music is always a great blend of improvisational bands mixed with acoustic and world beat sets. The strong 2008 lineup is as eclectic as any in recent memory, with sets by Steve Earle, The Coup, Collective Soul, Hal Ketchum, Plena Libre, and the BoDeans. We'll have an assortment of releases including a special 10 Year Retrospective after the fest.
The "solar" part of the Solar Music fest is the Solar Village, part of the festival from its beginning. Since New Mexico is a major proponent of alternative energy, you can count on the Solar Village for some of the best demonstrations from solar ovens and adobe to hydrogen fuel technology, all within a few steps of the music fest.
