Red House Records - Our Side Of Town

Red House Records
25th Anniversary Tour 2008

With the recorded music business in transition, it’s the rare record label that can claim both a proud 25 year history AND a positive stance toward its future: continuing to release recordings by its most seasoned artists and continuing to develop and record singer-songwriters for the next generation.

The 25th Anniversary Tour recordings present both sides of Red House, with performances by label vets Eliza Gilkyson, Greg Brown, and Lucy Kaplansky, plus tunes from newer converts to the label like the Pines and the Wailin’ Jennys.

Beginning in its hometown of St Paul with a show at the Fitzgerald Theater, the Red House Anniversary Tour went coast to coast, presenting most of the label’s current artists at festivals, clubs and theaters.

Many of the shows were recorded, and segments are offered here, presenting Red House artists doing what they do best: interpreting their original compositions.

The tour is divided into two Volumes.

Volume One
includes the following performances:
The Wailin’ Jennys at the Kate Wolf Memorial Festival (6/29/08) in Laytonville CA;
The Pines performing at the Lizard Lounge (9/5/08) in Cambridge MA;
Meg Hutchinson at the Lizard Lounge (9/5/08);
Ray Bonneville at the Freight & Salvage Coffee House (9/26/08) in Berkeley CA;
Lucy Kaplansky with Nina Gerber at the Freight & Salvage (9/26/08);
Greg Brown at the Kate Wolf Memorial Festival (6/29/08);
Jimmie LaFave at the Kate Wolf Memorial Festival (6/28/08)

Bonus Tracks
The kick-off show was on April 12, 2008 at the Fitzgerald Theater in St Paul and featured Lucy Kaplansky and Minnesota natives Storyhill. A sampler from this memorable show is included as a bonus with the purchase of either Red House 25th Anniversary Tour title.
